Omron CPM1 Micro PLC

Omron Electronics's new micro PLC family offers cost-effective, high-speed control applications on small machines.

The CPM1 is available in 10, 20 and 30 density I/O and is expandable up to 50 I/0, allowing the user to select the right size for the particular application. The 10 I/O module measures approximately 5.1" (l) x 3.5" (h) x 3.3" (d).

The CPM1 offers a variety of features for enhanced flexibility. Four configurable input interrupt response modes are available for applications requiring faster response: immediate, high-speed counter, quick response and scheduled interrupts to subroutines. Input time constants allow the operator to set the PLC response time to the type of input used. Setting range is 1-128 ms.

The CPM1 line was designed with global safety standards in mind. It is CE, UL and CSA approved, and it is the only micro PLC currently on the market that meets both EMC and low-voltage EC directives.

The CPM1 can execute basic instructions in only .72 microseconds and special instructions in 16.3 microseconds. Programmed in relay ladder logic using a personal computer with a ladder support software package or with a hand-held programmer, the CPM1 offers 91 programming instructions for quick and easy programming. A large memory capacity of up to 2,048 words supports more complex applications.

Serial communications are easily established using optional adapters for RS-232C or RS-422 communications. The CPM1 also offers multiple interface options. It can be connected to personal computers, other Omron PLCs and peripheral devices such as operator interfaces.

The CPM1 line of micro PLCs complements Omron's existing lines of small, mid and large-rack PLCs by using the same set of programming peripherals and software. This enables easy migration from one PLC family to another and decreases time and expense involved in re-training operators.
