Omron SRM1 Micro Network Controller OMRON'S REVOLUTIONARY MICRO NETWORK CONTROLLER PROVIDES HIGH-SPEED COMPONENT NETWORKING, MACHINE CONTROL UP TO 256 COMPLETELY DISTRIBUTED I/O POINTS-ALL IN AN ULTRA-COMPACT DESIGN Offering up to 256 distributed I/O points, Omron's revolutionary new SRM1 micro network controller provides the power and flexibility of a high-speed distributed I/O network in an ultra compact package. Based on the networking system rather than on the controller's fixed I/O, the SRM1's I/O is completely distributed via Omron's high-speed (750 kbps) CompoBus/S network. This distributed configuration reduces wiring and offers machine builders the flexibility to distribute I/O anywhere on the machine, rather than designing machines around the controller. And, at only 110mm (H) x 40mm (W) x 60mm (D), the SRM1's ultra-compact design reduces space requirements in control panels. Omron's SRM1 micro network controller is expandable from 4 to 256 I/O (128 inputs, 128 outputs maximum), providing the connectivity of a much larger controller. The SRM1 offers numerous communications options, including RS-232C communications to a personal computer or an Omron NT Link connection to an Omron programmable terminal. With a converter cable, several SRM1s can be linked to a host computer for more demanding control requirements. In addition to its high-speed networking capabilities, the SRM1 micro network controller is also a fully functional programmable controller. The SRM1 provides 4K of word program capacity, a large instruction set of 14 basic and 77 special instructions and an instruction execution speed of only 0.8 microseconds. The SRM1 micro network controller is programmed via low-cost, easy-to-use WINDOWS-based programming software. No network configuration software is needed; users simply install a cable and set up I/O slaves via a single DIP switch setting for quick and easy implementation. With a maximum communications cycle time of 0.5 ms, the CompoBus/S network provides the same reliability as local I/O signals. Speed and reliability are further enhanced because distributed I/O communications are synced with the controller scan, providing remote I/O speeds comparable to those of built-in I/O. A variety of I/O slaves are available for the CompoBus/S networking system. Transistor input and output blocks are available in 4, 8 and 16 point densities. Additional output modules with relay and solid state relays come in 8 and 16 point configurations. Special sensor amplifier terminals that allow users to integrate sensor amplification into the networking system are also available. The SRM1 allows you to build for the future now because, unlike other micro programmable controllers, the SRM1 is easily expandable to accommodate future networking needs. To add a device, simply add another I/O block and cable. No new controller or re-programming is required, providing substantial cost, time and space savings. Omron's SRM1 micro network controller is the ideal solution for networking and control applications in small, stand-alone equipment such as packaging, assembly, injection molding, textile and printing machines, and for conveyor control.
