With a universal AC/DC supply voltage of 24 to 240 VAC and 12 to 240 VDC, Omron Electronics, Inc.'s, new slim-profile E3JU-X/XR photoelectric fiber optic sensor can meet any electrical requirement.

Measuring only 4.65" (H) x 1.8" (W) x 1.81"(D) (the size of a small limit switch), this UL/CSA and CE-approved fiber optic sensor offers a space-efficient sensing solution for a variety of packaging and material handling applications, including detection for transfer and automatic assembly and sensing objects on conveyors. With both NEMA 4X and IP66 ratings, the E3JU-X/XR fiber optic amplifier, used in conjunction with Omron's E32-U line of armored fiber cables, is ideal in food, beverage, pharmaceutical and other applications involving regular washdowns.

The E3JU-X/XR fits industry-standard sizes, allowing use with other manufacturers' cables. Sensitivity adjustment and stability indicator are standard on all models, enabling users to fine-tune sensor performance in accordance with operating conditions. Solid state FET models can switch AC and DC loads up to 600 mA at 240 VAC/100 VDC, while contact output models have one SPDT relay rated for 3A at 250 VAC/30 VDC. Users may choose from a wide variety of fiber optic cables with sensing distances ranging from 6.5 cm (2.6 in) to 40 cm (15.7 in).

Flexibility-enhancing features include choice of M30 or direct hole mounting, diffuse or through-beam, pre-wired cable or mini-change quick-disconnect connector for ease of installation and maintenance and a wide selection of switch-selectable time delay functions, including ON-delay, OFF-delay, ON/OFF delay, one-shot and delayed one-shot.
