OMRON'S FLEXIBLE NEW 1/16 DIN PROCESS CONTROLLER PACKS DOZENS OF FEATURES INTO ONE COMPACT UNIT

Feature-rich and designed for easy customization, Omron's NEMA 4X and IP66 certified E5CK digital process controller offers unprecedented versatility for any basic-to-medium level process control-all in one compact unit.

Omron's 1/16 DIN E5CK process controller offers 22 types of standard field-selectable inputs, including two linear current, three linear voltage, 15 thermocouple and two RTD options. All functions and controller set-up options are easily accessible from the front panel. Additional configuration capabilities are enhanced by the use of field-replaceable output boards and field-replaceable option boards.

The E5CK operates with one of eight output boards, including: relay/relay, 4-20mA/relay, 0-20mA/relay, 0-10V dc/relay and voltage output functionality. The four option boards offer RS-232C and RS-485 serial communications, event input and transfer output capabilities.

"With the variety of inputs it accepts and the variety of outputs and options it offers, this one unit has the flexibility to replace almost all existing basic-to-medium level process controllers with a single part number," says Brett Wright, Product Marketing Specialist-Process Controllers.

With an optional module, the transfer output can re-transmit manipulated or output variables with the same resolution as the control inputs. The user can also program both control outputs and auxiliary outputs to operate as alarms, allowing for one control output and three alarms. A heat/cool configuration and two alarms can also be programmed.

Normal controller functions include: heat/cool or standard, auto/manual, run/stop, setpoint ramping and field calibration. The user has a choice of changing from one set point to another by executing a ramp to set point method, a direct selection between setpoints without a time delay.

The controller offers a choice of either advanced PID with auto-tune capabilities or fuzzy logic self-tuning.

Since all of these features are built into one unit, only one part number is needed, simplifying ordering, re-ordering and inventory requirements.

Because of the numerous options and unprecedented versatility it offers, the E5CK is ideal for process control applications in a variety of industries, including packaging, plastics, food and beverage, semi-conductor, chemical, pulp and paper, pharmaceutical, chemical and petrochemical, utility, and wastewater and water treatment.
