New High Torque Low Speed Synchronous Motors
Oriental Motor U.S.A. Corp. in Torrance, CA; introduces a new family
of VextaŽ bi-directional low speed synchronous ac motors. A major redesign of the stator
teeth achieves a lower vibration and much higher motor torque (20% to 100%) per unit
volume. Universal capacitors are used to enable the SMK ac synchronous motor to
successfully operate at all standard voltage levels with a wide range of input voltages;
24 vac, 100 vac,115 vac, 200 vac and 230 vac. This dual frequency motor (50/60 Hz)
delivers from 18.0 oz-in rated torque with the smallest 1.65" square SMK motor
(SMK014K-AA) to 297 oz-in rated torque with the largest SMK motor (SMK 5160A-AA), all at a
constant speed of 72 rpm (60 Hz).
SMK motors are available to interface to Oriental Motor's low noise GN gear series. Up to 20 specific gear ratios are available with the high torque SMK family. The smallest SMK gear motor (SMK216A-GN/2GN3K) can provide 55 oz-in @ 72 rpm with a 3:1 gearhead. The largest SMK gear motor (SMK550A-GN/5GN100K) can generate 1390 oz-in @ 72 rpm. All SMK low speed synchronous motors with and without gearheads are UL/CSA recognized (except the miniature SMK014-AA motor).
