MX 20
amatake-Honeywell's Control Products Division has released
a single-board programmable controller half the size of the standard MX 30
single-board model, but with identical processing power. The MX 20 Compact Board Machine
Controller is designed for small brewing equipment, vending machines, factory shutters and
similar applications where space is at a premium. At 180 x 90 x 33 mm, the new controller
offers improved noise rejection characteristics (up to 1500V) and a higher ambient
temperature rating (up to 60°C). The MX 20 has a programming capacity of 3K bytes,
enabling storage of 129 commands, and a 500-word link register. It can also convert
programs into ROM, and it can control up to 1600 relays (800 auxiliary, 800 retention) and
200 timer counters. The MX 20 can communicate without special programming with
Yamatake-Honeywell's EST smart terminals via its RS 232-C port. Models having either 12
inputs/8 outputs or 12 inputs/outputs are available. The programming loader package (for
personal computers) designed for the MX Series 1 is also available for the MX 20. Sales of 10,000 MX 20s are expected
in the first year.
